Fine Art
The fine arts program aims at helping talented and interested students actualize their creative potentials in various fields of visual perception and expression. As a specialized field of study, the program is meant to provide students with the creative, artistic, and intellectual foundation upon which they can build their creative contributions.
As such, all the art major courses are studio hands-on courses whereby the student is introduced to a wide range of traditional and new media, techniques and styles and exposed to the study of the theoretical and historical backgrounds of each art discipline. The fine arts program espouses a global view of the arts while nurturing the individual artistic voice of every budding talent. Students are encouraged to express their own artistic vision and to communicate their society's cultural interests through an advanced visual discourse.
Program Structure
The Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts is a four year program that embraces a multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach in the investigation of the applied visual arts. The college's unique curriculum adopts a free-spirited environment in which different art forms are offered and taught simultaneously.
The design foundation year helps to build a range of analytical, formal, sensory, and technical design experiences along with an emphasis on the thorough understanding of the design concept, process, and techniques. Sophomores begin to explore fundamentals of design through studio courses which investigate the basic elements of visual design in two-dimensional media and three-dimensional forms.
Juniors start their specialized studies which include courses in painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics in addition to courses in the theory and history of art which develop critical thinking and foster artistic creativity. Students are also advised to choose from a range of art elective courses that further their knowledge in related art fields.
During the senior year, students are encouraged to develop their authentic vision and personal artistic path through the development of a final year comprehensive art project which is pursued initially at the conceptual level, elaborated through visual research, and realized in a chosen media. Final projects are juried by a panel of renowned local artists and academicians and displayed at the college's prestigious Annual Student Exhibition.
